Authenticity Guarantee

If it is on our shelf, it is the real thing.

Counterfeit phones and appliances are everywhere. We have been protecting Nigerians from that gamble since 2009. This page explains what authenticity means at KoliaAngel, how to verify it yourself, and how to spot a fake before it costs you.

Our promise

Every product KoliaAngel sells is:

  • Genuine and brand-new (unless explicitly listed as refurbished or open-box)
  • Sealed in original manufacturer packaging
  • Sourced through authorised manufacturer or distributor channels
  • Backed by the full manufacturer warranty
  • Traceable by IMEI, serial number, or product code

Written commitment: If you ever buy a product from us and discover it is not authentic, we will refund you in full and investigate immediately.

How to verify your product
  1. Check the IMEI or serial number
Every smartphone has a unique 15-digit IMEI. Find it by dialling *#06# on the phone, or by checking the box and device settings. The three numbers — box, dial code, and settings — should match exactly. You can also verify the IMEI on the manufacturer's official website.
  2. Inspect the packaging
Genuine boxes are crisp, cleanly printed, and properly sealed. Look for clean fonts, correct logos, accurate spelling, and an intact factory seal. If the printing looks faded, the seal is broken, or the box feels flimsy, that is a warning sign.
  3. Check the accessories
Original chargers, cables, and earphones have proper branding, consistent build quality, and correct certification marks. Generic plastic accessories in a "branded" box are a major red flag.
  4. Power on and check the software
Every genuine device boots cleanly into the manufacturer's official operating system — iOS, Samsung One UI, MIUI, OriginOS, HiOS, Funtouch OS — each with a recognisable look. Counterfeits often run modified Android with wrong icons, low-resolution graphics, and missing or fake apps.
  5. Verify warranty registration
Once your device is registered with the manufacturer (Apple ID, Samsung Account, Mi Account, etc.), the device's warranty status will display on the brand's official website using the serial number.

How to spot a counterfeit
  • Price is suspiciously low for the model
  • Box and accessories look slightly off — logos, fonts, or colours do not match
  • IMEI does not match across box, dial code, and settings
  • Device performance is sluggish, software looks wrong, or apps behave strangely
  • Seller cannot provide a verifiable receipt or warranty card
  • Seller refuses to let you check the IMEI before payment
  • Seller has no permanent address or refuses to provide one

Why authorised dealer status matters

Counterfeit devices flow through informal channels: roadside resellers, unverified online sellers, and grey-market importers. They are usually cheaper, often visibly so, because they are imitations.

Authorised dealers are different. We buy directly from manufacturers and recognised distributors. Every unit is documented, every warranty is real, and every transaction can be traced. When something goes wrong, the manufacturer treats us as a partner, not a stranger.

"Where you buy from" matters as much as "what you buy."

Suspect something?

If you have bought a product from KoliaAngel and have any doubt about its authenticity, contact us immediately. We will inspect the unit, verify it with the manufacturer, and resolve it.
